What this pillar covers

Chiropractic care at ChiroMed is hands-on treatment of the spine and the joints around it, aimed at the mechanical fault causing your symptoms rather than the ache it produces. Dr. Justin Bergin, DC examines you, images where imaging changes the plan, and tells you what he found before any adjusting begins. Three services sit in this line, and all three run at both offices.

Dr. Justin Bergin, DC performs every examination personally, 22 years into practice, at Lakeland and at Lady Lake for the Villages market.

Chiropractic Care

The adjustment is the foundation of everything else here. Dr. Bergin treats restricted and misaligned spinal joints that interfere with the nervous system, in patients from pediatric through geriatric, choosing the technique for the person on the table rather than running one protocol on everybody. Manual adjusting, instrument-assisted work and drop-table technique are all in the toolkit. Read about spinal adjustments and the techniques behind them.

Pregnancy Chiropractic

Pregnancy changes the load on the pelvis and the lower back faster than the body adapts, and the usual answers are rest and paracetamol. Prenatal adjusting uses positioning and technique modified for a pregnant patient, with the aim of keeping the pelvis moving and the low back tolerable through the third trimester and afterwards. See what prenatal and postpartum adjusting involves.

Cold Laser Therapy

Cold laser, also called low-level laser therapy, is a light-based treatment applied to soft tissue that has stopped settling on its own. It is painless, it takes minutes, and it is usually layered onto an adjusting plan rather than sold as a standalone course. It is used here for stubborn tendon and nerve-related complaints in the wrist, foot and knee. Read how low-level laser sessions for stubborn soft tissue fit a plan.

Why This Practice

Dr. Justin Bergin, DC has practiced chiropractic for 22 years and sees patients at both offices. He came to this work through his own chronic pain and scoliosis, which shapes how the appointments run: longer visits, a real examination, and findings explained in language you can repeat to your physician. What no other practice in either market can offer is the rest of the building. Chiropractic here sits alongside spinal and knee decompression, Omniwave shockwave, Neuromed electroanalgesia and the metabolic and functional lines, so when adjusting alone is not enough the next step is a room away rather than a referral away. If you want a neutral description of the procedure itself, Mayo Clinic describes what happens during a chiropractic adjustment.

Getting to Either Office

Lakeland patients come from Dixieland, Cleveland Heights, Christina and Highland City, most of them driving S. Florida Avenue past Southgate Shopping Center and Lakeside Village, or cutting across on the Polk Parkway from the east side of Polk County. Parking sits at the door of Suite 13. The Lady Lake office serves The Villages from North US-441 just north of CR 466, a short drive from Spanish Springs Town Square and within reach of Summerfield, Oxford and Fruitland Park. Golf-cart parking is available, and patients from Lake, Sumter and Marion counties use the same lineup of services as Lakeland does.

How this line is paid for

“I have had sich a great experience seeing Dr. Bergin. When other offices have told me I just had muscle damage or the only thing they could do for me was give shots, he said he had others ways to manage my pain and numbness, along with improving mobility. And he was right! I feel so much better!”

Lakeland

“I have had pain in my right upper back quadrant by my shoulder blade for at least a year now and the doctors have been unsuccessful in making the pain go away. I came to Dr. Bergin looking for some help. Within 3 to 4 weeks. My pain in that area is completely gone.”

Charlene L. Verified review
Lakeland

“Dr. Bergin is phenomenal. Chronic lower back issues led a different doctor to mention back surgery to me. That was not an option I wanted to entertain. After a consult with Dr. B, he was confident that he could help resolve my back issues. I’ve been seeing him weekly to resolve the issue, and I am so pleased with the results so far! More mobility, less pain, and a great customer experience.”

Joshua F. Verified review

What is a red flag in chiropractic?

A red flag is a sign that your problem is not mechanical and belongs with another provider first. Unexplained weight loss, fever with back pain, loss of bladder or bowel control, progressive weakness in a limb, pain that is worse lying down, or a history of cancer are all examples. Dr. Bergin screens for them at the examination, and if one shows up he tells you and refers rather than treats.

What is the average cost of a chiropractic adjustment in Florida?

Published averages move around a lot, because they mix cash-pay visits, insurance copays and multi-service appointments. The useful answer is what applies to you. Chiropractic care here bills insurance, and our team verifies your benefits before your first visit so you know your copay in advance. The new patient consultation, exam, X-rays if needed and report of findings is $47.

the clinic team
Can a chiropractor fix a pinched nerve?

Often, yes, when the nerve is being irritated by a mechanical problem: a restricted joint, a disc pressing on the nerve root, or soft tissue tightening around it. Treatment addresses the structure causing the compression rather than numbing the symptom. Where the nerve root is badly compressed, decompression or a referral may be the better path, and Dr. Bergin will say so after reading your imaging.

Why do doctors discourage chiropractors?

Some do, usually because of variation in practice and a thin evidence base for claims outside the musculoskeletal system. That criticism is fair where it lands. Our answer is to stay inside what chiropractic is good at, screen for red flags, image before adjusting when it changes the plan, and refer out when the problem is not mechanical. We also put the reasoning in writing so your physician can read it.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in Florida?

No. Florida allows direct access to a chiropractic physician, so you can book an evaluation yourself at either office. Some insurance plans still require a referral for benefits to apply, which is one of the things our team checks when it verifies your coverage before your first visit.
