Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy at ChiroMed is delivered with an Omniwave unit. Acoustic pressure waves are applied to tendon, ligament and joint tissue that has stopped settling on its own, with the aim of improving local blood flow and supporting the body's own repair response. Knee Decompression
Knee decompression applies controlled traction across the joint to reduce the friction between surfaces that have worn thin. It suits people with chronic knee pain or osteoarthritis who have been told replacement is the next step and want to find out what non-surgical care can still do first. Soft Tissue Therapy
Soft tissue therapy is the hands-on half of joint recovery: releasing restricted muscle, working on scar tissue and restoring the glide between tissue layers that stiffens after an injury. Active Release Technique and Graston instrument-assisted work are both used here. It is what makes an adjustment or a shockwave course hold rather than fade. How much does a session of shockwave therapy cost?
We do not publish a per-session figure, because almost nobody buys one session. Acoustic wave therapy is delivered as a course, and the length of that course depends on the joint, how long it has been symptomatic and what else is in your plan. You get a written quote for the whole course before anything starts, and payment plans are available for self-pay care.

Yes, and they are worth knowing. Treated tissue can feel sore or bruised for a day or two. It is not appropriate over an active infection, an open wound, a tumour site, or for patients on certain blood-thinning regimes or with a clotting disorder. It also does not suit every joint. Dr. Bergin screens for all of this at the examination and will tell you if you are not a candidate.

Generally no. Most plans classify acoustic wave therapy as non-covered, which is why this line is cash pay and why we say so plainly rather than submitting a claim that will be denied. Medicare coverage varies by plan and by service, and our front desk will tell you exactly what applies before you commit to anything.

That depends on what you are comparing it with. For a tendon or a joint that has resisted rest, anti-inflammatories and physical therapy, the realistic alternatives are an injection, a surgical opinion, or living with it. Acoustic wave therapy is non-invasive, needs no downtime and can be stopped at any point. If your examination suggests it will not help, we will say so before you spend anything.

It depends on what is driving it. A knee that locks, gives way or swells after an injury needs an orthopaedic assessment and imaging. A knee that has ached for years, stiffens in the morning and hurts on stairs is usually a wear-and-load problem, and that is a conservative-care question first. Look for someone who examines the hip and the foot as well as the knee, and who will tell you when surgery is the honest answer.
