Pregnancy Chiropractic at ChiroMed
Somewhere around week 24 the complaints change. Standing at the sink becomes a negotiation. Rolling over wakes you up. Getting out of the car turns into a two-stage manoeuvre with a hand on the door frame. The advice you keep getting is to rest, which is impossible, or to take something, which you would rather not. Dr. Justin Bergin, DC treats the mechanical side of that picture at both offices with low-force, carefully positioned care, and he does it inside the boundaries your obstetric team sets. Prenatal work is one slice of [the chiropractic side of this practice](/chiropractic-services/), and the same examination habits apply to all of it.
This page sits under chiropractic services, the ChiroMed chiropractic services pillar.
What pregnancy chiropractic actually does
Pregnancy chiropractic is low-force, positioned care for the joints of the spine, pelvis and hips during and after pregnancy. You lie on your side with support cushions, never on your abdomen, while a Doctor of Chiropractic uses gentle manual, drop-table or instrument methods plus soft-tissue work to reduce pain and restore movement.
The changes driving the pain are well documented. Relaxin loosens the pelvic ligaments in preparation for delivery, the growing uterus pulls the pelvis forward, and the lower back compensates by increasing its curve. Add a pelvic floor and deep abdominal wall working under new load, and you have joints moving through ranges they were never conditioned for. That is a mechanical problem with a hormonal accelerant, which is precisely the kind of problem conservative care is built for. Staying mobile is protective. A clinical reference summary on exercise during pregnancy links regular activity with lower rates of low back pain and pelvic girdle pain. The trouble is that pain makes movement unattractive, and the less you move the worse the loading gets. Interrupting that loop is the practical goal of a course of prenatal care: enough relief to keep walking, keep sleeping and keep doing the exercise that protects you. What makes this care appropriate in pregnancy is technique rather than intent. You are set up side-lying on cushions with nothing pressing on the abdomen. Force scales down as you progress, so instrument-assisted and drop-table methods become the default in the later weeks. No X-rays are taken at any stage of a pregnancy. Anything that presents as obstetric rather than musculoskeletal goes straight back to the provider managing your pregnancy, same day where it needs to.

Conditions we treat with it
Each of these has its own page, and each one links back up to this service. The examination decides which of them applies to you.
Why patients choose it
Nothing is taken internally
The care is external, mechanical and drug free, which removes the calculation you have to make about every tablet for the rest of the pregnancy.
Force scales down as you progress
Instrument-assisted and drop-table methods deliver a directional input with very little load, and they become the default in the third trimester when positioning options narrow.
Your obstetric provider stays in charge
Chiropractic handles the musculoskeletal side. Anything obstetric goes back to the provider managing your pregnancy, and Dr. Bergin will tell you when that is the right call rather than treating around it.
Postpartum care continues in the same place
Feeding posture, one-sided carrying and a recovering abdominal wall produce a different set of complaints. The same doctor picks those up without you starting over somewhere new.
Cost, insurance and financing
Cost across a course of prenatal care moves on a few variables, and the front desk puts the number in front of you before anything is booked in.
The one published price
Consultation, Exam, X-Rays (If Needed) & Report of Findings: Only $47
What moves the cost
- Whether the appointment is an initial examination or a follow-up visit

- Whether supporting soft-tissue work forms part of the visit
What a course includes
- Consultation with Dr. Justin Bergin, DC

Payment: Chiropractic care at ChiroMed bills insurance. Our team verifies your benefits before your first visit. New patients can begin with the consultation, exam, X-rays if needed, and report of findings for $47, and imaging is simply not part of a prenatal examination. Payment plans are available for self-pay care. Ask the front desk which plan fits your course of care.
Why ChiroMed
Twenty-two years in practice means Dr. Justin Bergin, DC has carried a great many pregnancies through to delivery and out the other side, and it means he is comfortable saying when something is not his to treat. The concierge model matters here in a practical way: appointments are long enough for you to get positioned properly, be worked on without rushing, and get back off the table at your own speed. Behind him sits spinal and knee decompression, Omniwave shockwave, Neuromed electroanalgesia, and regenerative, metabolic and functional care, so when the pregnancy ends and a different problem surfaces the plan continues in the same building. Prenatal work is a narrow slice of what happens here, and [the wider chiropractic programme this care belongs to](/chiropractic-services/) explains how the same standards apply to every other patient.
Where you would be treated
Both offices provide prenatal chiropractic care, and parking at each is close to the door, which matters more in the third trimester than at any other time. Suite 13 on S. Florida Avenue is a level walk from the parking bay, and patients drive in from Grasslands, Cleveland Heights and Highland City, with the Harden Blvd approach avoiding the worst of the Florida Avenue traffic. The Lady Lake office sits on North US-441 a little above CR 466 with ground-level parking, and younger families in Fruitland Park, Leesburg and Wildwood use it rather than driving to a hospital campus for musculoskeletal pain.
In Lakeland that is 6595 Florida Ave S, Suite 13, Lakeland, serving Polk County. In the Villages market the office is at 929 US-441 #404, Lady Lake, serving Lake County, Sumter County, Marion County. Dr. Justin Bergin, DC performs the examination personally at both, 22 years into practice.

Compare your options
Real alternatives exist, including ones this practice does not perform. Here is the honest set.
| Criteria | Our approachLow-force prenatal chiropractic | What it is | Typically considered when | Invasive? | Offered at ChiroMed? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low-force prenatal chiropractic | Gentle side-lying joint work with support cushions plus home positioning advice | Back, pelvic or hip pain that limits walking, sleeping or standing | No | Yes | |
| Supported movement and stabilisation work | Guided exercise for the hips, deep abdominal wall and glutes | Pain that returns whenever activity increases | No | Yes | |
| Maternity support belt and positioning changes | External support for the pelvis plus sleep and sitting adjustments | Pelvic pain that is worse on one leg, on stairs, or getting out of the car | No | Advised here. The belt is bought retail and we fit and coach it | |
| Pain medication in pregnancy | Analgesia chosen by your obstetric provider | Pain that is not manageable with conservative care | No | Not prescribed here. That decision belongs to your obstetrician or midwife | |
| Injection therapy for pelvic or sacroiliac pain | Steroid or anaesthetic placed into or near a joint | Severe localised joint pain that has failed conservative care | Minimally | Not performed here. Appropriate when your obstetric team judges the benefit outweighs the risk |
Two of these five are outside what this clinic does, and one of them is a retail item we simply help you use properly. Nothing on the list replaces the judgement of the provider managing your pregnancy.
Is pregnancy chiropractic right for someone like you?
Candidacy is decided at the examination, not on a web page. These are the general lines.
Likely a good candidate if
- Low back pain that started or worsened after the first trimester
- Pelvic or pubic pain on stairs, when parting the legs, or getting out of a car
- Mid-back and rib discomfort as the ribcage widens
- Sciatic-type pain running into one buttock or thigh
- You want conservative care first and your obstetric provider agrees
We will point you elsewhere if
- Vaginal bleeding, fluid loss or abdominal cramping, which needs your obstetric provider the same day
- Placenta previa, pre-eclampsia or another diagnosed complication without clearance
- Severe or sudden headache, visual change or swelling
- Reduced fetal movement, which is an urgent obstetric matter and not a chiropractic one
- Progressive leg weakness or any loss of bladder or bowel control

What to expect, step by step
You know the plan and the cost before anything begins.
“I have had sich a great experience seeing Dr. Bergin. When other offices have told me I just had muscle damage or the only thing they could do for me was give shots, he said he had others ways to manage my pain and numbness, along with improving mobility. And he was right! I feel so much better!”
“I have had pain in my right upper back quadrant by my shoulder blade for at least a year now and the doctors have been unsuccessful in making the pain go away. I came to Dr. Bergin looking for some help. Within 3 to 4 weeks. My pain in that area is completely gone.”
“Dr. Bergin is phenomenal. Chronic lower back issues led a different doctor to mention back surgery to me. That was not an option I wanted to entertain. After a consult with Dr. B, he was confident that he could help resolve my back issues. I’ve been seeing him weekly to resolve the issue, and I am so pleased with the results so far! More mobility, less pain, and a great customer experience.”
“I bless the day that Dr. Bergin started working on me. I have had long standing pain for so long. After just a few visits my pain left and I feel so good. He is very patient oriented and caring. I regard him highly.”
“Dr. Bergin was instrumental in relieving my back pain which I had for many years. The techniques he used on relieving my back pain were impressive. I been going to chiropractors for years and Dr. Bergin is the best.”

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?
For most healthy pregnancies, gentle chiropractic care for musculoskeletal pain is considered low risk and is widely used. Technique and positioning are what make it appropriate: side-lying setup, support cushions, no pressure on the abdomen, low-force methods, and no X-rays. The honest caveat is that research in this specific population is limited. Tell your obstetrician or midwife that you plan to come, and tell us about any complication you have been given, because some of them mean we wait or decline.
the clinic teamHow late in pregnancy can I still be adjusted?
Patients are commonly seen right through the third trimester and into the final weeks, provided the pregnancy is uncomplicated and positioning is still comfortable. What changes is how you are set up and how much force is used, both of which get lighter as you progress. If you have been placed on activity restriction by your obstetric provider, bring that instruction with you and we work inside it.
the clinic teamDo I need a referral from my obstetrician?
Florida does not require a referral to see a chiropractor, and most patients book directly. That said, we want your obstetric provider in the loop, particularly if you are carrying multiples, have a diagnosed complication, or are managing something like gestational diabetes or high blood pressure. Where a case needs a conversation between providers, we are happy to have it.
the clinic teamCan chiropractic care turn a breech baby or make labour easier?
We make no claims about fetal position, labour length or delivery outcomes, and we would be cautious about anyone who does. The reason to come is musculoskeletal: back, pelvic, hip and rib pain that is limiting your sleep and your ability to move. That is what this care addresses and that is what we will measure at your review.
the clinic teamWill my insurance cover it?
Chiropractic care here bills insurance, and coverage depends on your specific plan rather than on the fact that you are pregnant. The front desk verifies your benefits before your first visit so there is no surprise at checkout. If you would rather not run it through insurance, the $47 new patient visit covers the consultation, exam, imaging if needed, and report of findings.
the clinic teamWhat about after the baby arrives?
Postpartum is when many patients actually need the most help, between feeding posture, carrying a car seat on one side, and a pelvis and abdominal wall still recovering. Care can resume as soon as you are comfortable travelling, and it usually focuses on the mid-back, neck and hips rather than the pelvis alone. Bring the baby. Nobody here minds.
