Body Contouring at ChiroMed

Everyone has the area. The one that stayed after the weight came off, that does not respond to another month of effort, that is the reason a shirt gets chosen over a different shirt. It is a genuinely frustrating thing, and it is a different problem from carrying too much weight. Body contouring addresses the first problem and not the second. At ChiroMed it is delivered with Ultraslim, a device applied at the surface of the skin that targets a specific region. Nothing is cut, nothing is suctioned, nothing is injected, and you walk out and get on with your day. It also sits inside a practice that will tell you when contouring is the wrong answer. Dr. Justin Bergin, DC has 22 years of saying so, and [the wider metabolic health line here](/metabolic-health/) exists precisely because shape and health are not the same question.

This page sits under weight loss service, the ChiroMed weight loss service pillar.

What body contouring actually does

Body contouring is non-surgical fat reduction aimed at one area of the body rather than at overall weight. At ChiroMed it is delivered with the Ultraslim device, applied at the surface of the skin. There is no incision, no suction and no anesthesia, and no recovery time is needed afterwards.

**Ultraslim.** The device is applied over the area being treated while you lie still. Nothing enters the body and nothing is removed surgically. You stay clothed apart from the region being treated, you feel no anesthetic because none is used, and you drive yourself home immediately afterwards. **What body contouring is for.** One area. A flank, an abdomen, an upper arm, a region that has not changed despite the rest of you changing. It is a shaping treatment, and shaping is a legitimate goal. **What body contouring is not for.** Losing weight. Treating obesity. Fixing blood sugar. Replacing food and movement. Johns Hopkins Medicine publishes plain guidance on nutrition and fitness for a reason: no device substitutes for what you eat and how you move, and any clinic implying otherwise is selling you something. We publish no before-and-after images on this page, no percentage figures and no inch-loss numbers. Results vary by person and by area, and putting someone else's outcome in front of you as though it were a forecast is not something this practice does.

At ChiroMed the device is Ultraslim, named here on purpose: the category name covers several very different machines and you deserve to know which one is in the room.

Why patients choose it

Nothing enters the body

No incision, no cannula, no anesthetic, no stitches and no recovery period. Compared with a surgical fat reduction procedure, the risk profile is a completely different conversation.

It is aimed at one area

General weight change does not let you choose where it comes from. A contouring treatment is applied where the problem is, which is the whole point of it.

You are assessed first

Dr. Justin Bergin, DC or the clinical team looks at the area, asks what changed and what did not, and tells you honestly whether this is the right treatment or whether your goal is actually a metabolic one.

No downtime to plan around

You come in, you are treated, you leave. Nothing about the session requires a day off or a recovery week.

Cost, insurance and financing

The cost of a contouring course depends on the area, on how many areas you want treated and on how long a course the assessment supports. That is decided after we have looked at you, which is why there is no menu price on this page.

The one published price

Consultation, Exam, X-Rays (If Needed) & Report of Findings: Only $47

What moves the cost

  • Which area is being treated and how large it is
  • Whether one region is involved or several
  • How long a course the assessment supports, which is set at the consultation
  • Whether contouring is the only thing you are having done here

What a course includes

  • The consultation and assessment of the treatment area
  • A written recommendation with the full cost of the course before it begins
  • The in-office sessions themselves
  • Reassessment of the area as the course progresses

Payment: Body contouring is a cash-pay service at ChiroMed. Chiropractic care here bills insurance and our team verifies those benefits before your first visit, but cosmetic and device-based services are self-pay, and no insurer covers a shaping treatment. Medicare coverage varies by plan and by service, and our front desk will tell you exactly what applies before you commit to anything. Payment plans are available for self-pay care. Ask the front desk which plan fits your course of care. New patients start the same way: Consultation, Exam, X-Rays (If Needed) & Report of Findings: Only $47.

Non-Surgical Fat Reduction, Honestly Described

Non-surgical fat reduction means changing the amount of fat in one area of the body without an operation. No cannula, no anesthetic, no stitches, no week of recovery, and no general anesthesia risk to weigh up beforehand.

What it does not mean is a surgical outcome without surgery. Liposuction removes a volume of tissue in one procedure. An external device works gradually across a course of sessions, on one region at a time, and the change is a shaping change rather than a transformation. Anybody blurring that line is borrowing a surgical result to sell a non-surgical service.

The practical difference for most people is the trade. You give up the size of the change and you get back the recovery, the risk and the anesthesia. For a patient who is close to where they want to be, that trade is usually the right one. For a patient carrying a significant amount of extra weight, it is not, and no number of sessions will make it so.

Where Shape Ends and Health Begins

Two words come up constantly on this service and they deserve a straight answer.

Obesity is a disease, described by the National Library of Medicine as having too much body fat, measured against height, and raising the risk of a long list of other conditions. A contouring device does not treat it. Someone whose health is being affected by their weight needs a supervised metabolic program, and telling them otherwise would be the most expensive kind of flattery.

Metabolic syndrome is the cluster that tends to travel with it: waist measurement, blood pressure, blood sugar, triglycerides and cholesterol drifting in the same direction at once. Reducing fat in one region does not move that cluster. Changing what your metabolism is doing can.

Where body contouring genuinely supports both, it is at the human end. Patients who have done the hard metabolic work and are left with one area that will not follow are the people this treatment was built for, and finishing the job they started is a reasonable thing to want.

Why ChiroMed

A clinic that only sells contouring has one answer to every question. ChiroMed has six lines of work, which means Dr. Justin Bergin, DC can tell you that your real problem is metabolic and hand you a different plan without losing anything by saying it. Across 22 years he has built a practice that runs chiropractic, spinal and knee decompression, Omniwave shockwave, Neuromed electroanalgesia, functional testing and metabolic care under one roof. On a cosmetic service, that breadth mostly buys you the freedom to be told no.

Where you would be treated

In Lakeland that is 6595 Florida Ave S, Suite 13, Lakeland, serving Polk County. In the Villages market the office is at 929 US-441 #404, Lady Lake, serving Lake County, Sumter County, Marion County. Dr. Justin Bergin, DC performs the examination personally at both, 22 years into practice.

Compare your options

Real alternatives exist, including ones this practice does not perform. Here is the honest set.

Criteria Our approachUltraslim body contouring What it isTypically considered whenInvasive?
Ultraslim device sessions A device applied at the surface of the skin to reduce fat in one specific area.Overall weight is roughly where you want it and one region has not followed.No. Applied externally, nothing enters the body.
Medically supervised weight loss program A supervised plan built from your history, measurements and bloodwork, with clinical review while you are on it.Weight, blood sugar or metabolic health is the actual goal rather than the shape of one area. No, unless a prescribed medication forms part of the plan.
Liposuction A surgical procedure that removes fat through a cannula under anesthesia.A significant change in one session is wanted and the patient is a suitable surgical candidate.Yes. Surgery, with anesthesia and a recovery period.
Bariatric surgery An operation that changes the size or route of the stomach and intestine.A surgical team judges the risks of staying at this weight outweigh the risks of operating.Yes. Major surgery with permanent changes and lifelong follow-up.

Notice what the middle two rows have in common. If your goal is health rather than shape, contouring is the wrong door, and you will be told that at the consultation rather than after you have paid for a course of it.

Is body contouring right for someone like you?

Candidacy is decided at the examination, not on a web page. These are the general lines.

Likely a good candidate if

  • You are close to a weight you are comfortable with and one area has not followed
  • The area has stayed put through genuine changes to eating and activity
  • You want a shaping result and understand that it is not a weight loss result
  • You would rather not have surgery, anesthesia or a recovery period
  • You can attend a course of sessions rather than expecting a single visit to finish the job
The most common honest answer we give on this service is that the patient in front of us wants a metabolic result rather than a cosmetic one. Hearing that at the consultation is cheaper than finding it out afterwards.

We will point you elsewhere if

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • The real goal is weight loss, blood sugar or metabolic health, which needs a different program
  • There is an active skin infection, open wound or rash over the area to be treated
  • An implanted electronic device, a recent surgery in the area, or a condition your physician has not cleared
  • The expectation is a surgical-scale change, which a non-surgical device will not deliver

When we’re not the right answer, we say so , and connect you with someone who is.

Not sure? That is exactly what the examination answers

Your first visit

What to expect, step by step

You know the plan and the cost before anything begins.

  1. A clinician taking a patient history at the ChiroMed consulting desk
    01

    Consultation and assessment

You show us the area and tell us what has and has not changed. We ask what your goal actually is, because shaping one region and changing your health are different objectives with different treatments.

  2. Dr. Justin Bergin discussing a treatment plan with a patient at ChiroMed
    02

    The honest recommendation

If contouring suits your goal you are told what a course would involve and what it will cost before anything begins. If it does not, you are told that instead, and pointed at the option that does.

  3. A couple walking outdoors in Lakeland, Florida
    03

    The session

You lie down and the Ultraslim device is applied over the treatment area. Nothing enters the body, no anesthetic is used, and you dress and leave when it is finished. There is no downtime to plan around.

  4. Clinical illustration used to explain treatment findings to a patient
    04

    Review as the course progresses

The area is reassessed against where it started and the plan is adjusted on what is actually happening. If it is not working for you, we will say so rather than sell you more of it.

  5. An adjustment that is not aimed at a specific finding is just noise. We treat what the exam and the X-ray tell us to treat.

“Dr. Bergin is phenomenal. Chronic lower back issues led a different doctor to mention back surgery to me. That was not an option I wanted to entertain. After a consult with Dr. B, he was confident that he could help resolve my back issues. I’ve been seeing him weekly to resolve the issue, and I am so pleased with the results so far! More mobility, less pain, and a great customer experience.”

Body Contouring questions

Tap a message for the honest answer. Call Lakeland (863) 940-3444

Is body contouring the same as weight loss?

No, and confusing the two is the most common mistake made on this service. Contouring reduces fat in one area. It does not lower your weight meaningfully, treat obesity, or change blood sugar, blood pressure or any of the health risks that carrying extra weight brings. If health is the goal, a supervised metabolic program is the right door.

the clinic team
How much does body contouring cost?

It depends on which area is treated, whether one region is involved or several, and how long a course the assessment supports. You get the full cost of your recommended course in writing before anything begins, and nothing is billed that was not agreed first. The only figure published on this site is the $47 new patient exam.

the clinic team
Is there any downside to body contouring?

The honest downsides are expectation and expense. Results vary between people and between areas, a non-surgical device will not produce a surgical-scale change, and no insurer covers it. There is also a real risk of treating the wrong problem. Local skin reaction or temporary tenderness can occur and is discussed at the consultation.

the clinic team
Will insurance pay for body contouring?

No. Cosmetic and shaping treatments are not covered by insurance plans, and Medicare does not cover them either. This is self-pay care and we say so plainly rather than sending you to find out the hard way. Payment plans are available, and the front desk will tell you which one fits the course you were recommended.

the clinic team
Do the results last?

What happens afterwards depends on you. A treated area does not become immune to future weight change, so results hold best when eating and activity stay roughly where they were. Anyone promising a permanent outcome regardless of what happens next is overselling, which is why the assessment asks about habits before recommending a course.
